The author of 32 books—13 with his by-line, and 19 for celebrities—published by 14 publishing houses, Norm is the writer also of more than 1,000 news features for EP News Service distributed globally and published in hundreds of periodicals.
The indefatigable writer prepared a 48-lesson course of instruction for fledgling authors in 1964 and created the Christian Writers Guild to market the course and train other writers. The three-year course has trained thousands of writers from all parts of the globe. Millions have seen Norm's "I Fire Writers" ad in more than 30 periodicals for 37 years. The ad's effectiveness is discussed in a textbook at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California. In 2001, Jerry B. Jenkins, writer of the "Left Behind" novels, purchased the Guild and named Norm as "Dean".
Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer are members of Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
Norm is a member of the Wheaton College Scholastic Honor Society, and is also an honorary lifetime member of the Evangelical Press Association, which he directed for 14 years. He also wrote EPA's weekly news service for news agencies worldwide. Norm received in 1980 the "Pacesetter Award" at the annual Christian Writers Conference at Mount Hermon, California, and won Decision magazine's "Sherwood E. Wirt Award" for Outstanding Service to Christian Writers.
